iPhone Fingerprint Security ~ Is It Secure?
Posted in Individual Project
Rules are made to be broken.
I guess, so is security, and the system.
Fingerprints are one of many forms of biometrics (an identification of humans by their characteristics) used to identify individuals and verify their identity.
Fingerprint technology is not a new technology at all. Its been with us since the 1990's. Even faking the fingerprints id are done a decade ago when a group of hackers manage to hack to a Window-based scanner in 2003.
This technology is used not only in security systems, but also in the field of forensic science and crime scene investigations.
Lets have a look at the latest iPhone in the market to date ~ iPhone 5s
Quite impressive isn't it?
However this high technology gadgets are facing some reliability issues, when a group of German hackers able to unlock the phone security using a fake fingerprints!
(It is also good what the hackers do. They point out the weak point and Apple or any other party that is interested in applying this feature can overcome this situation in future! :))
Does Apple actually using this technology as a marketing gimmick? Or this is only a beginning, and they are actually aiming for something even bigger in the future.
Its true that Apple are leading in the fingerprint technology for phone security?
It is a breakthrough that Apple being able to contain the finger print technology into one small device at the touch-start button.
However they are unable to capture the whole intention as a security added value to the device.
Good and bad this feature is, Apple is definitely heading towards the future.
Lets have a look how they manage to break the fingerprint code!
P/s: Oh~this post remind me of Window 8. How unfriendly it as to me when I started using it. For the sake of technology, things should be made less complicated. This is where technology gone wrong.
